SKYLINE TRAIL, PECOS WILDERNESS
Mind conceives beauty
Beauty conceives mind
This Body keeps unfolding
Footsteps unending
One is here then there
So little to Be in the
Everything of the World
What can one say of light
But that light changes
Or of cloud change
Or mountain change
What can one say of Body
But that Body changes
Or that mind changes
Flows in or out
Mixes with light and cloud and mountain
We fight to stay apart
We fear coming together
Fear the mixing up
Fear the loss of nothing
But nothing really
No fear just rain
On a windy tundra ridge
Elk scat wapiti bleats
And snorts and whistles
Long glide of a golden eagle
Across the chasm of the upper Pecos
No flap of wing
High meadow sedges and wildflowers
Towers of clouds east
Hazy blue vision of ridges and valleys south
Mordor peaks and red sunset glow
Beneath lifting gray rain clouds
Mind conceives
Nothing
